Boys have stinky arm pits

Sorry for the posting delay folks. The past 48 hours have been all about family. Mom's at the quiet, resting phase of her journey. But before she got here, Mom had some real quality moments.

Andrea and I brought the kids up to see Grandma Wednesday evening. We watched American Idol together. Each time a singer would perform Mom would say, "Is this one good? Do we like him?" The girls would look at each other and answer with a thumbs up or a thumb down. Sydney said at one point, "He's cute!" We all laughed at that. "But boys have stinky arm-pits!!" I quickly reminded Sydney. She always says that about boys. I'll be sure to remind her of it again when she's twenty.

Mom's dear friend Jane has been staying many nights with Mom. She provides text reports of the night from her iPhone (um, jealous! I have an old flip phone that looks like it was made in the 80's).  She's happy to stay. Dad's comforted by her presence in Mom's journey. So are we. Slumbers are made easier by a pillow-top mattress that rests against the back wall. I slept on it last night. It's more comfortable than my 20 year-old mattress at home (yes, I know, that's another new item I need to get).

I take a moment to scan Mom's room. I see flowers, cards, balloons, baskets of chocolate, hand written notes and homemade blankets. Love everywhere. Words can't express the importance of the love and support Mom's received from everyone.
