Back by the River

Hi Mom fans. I spent the lunch hour with Mom and Dad at Riverside. Mom was talking about "all the drama" and seemed to be much, much better than anytime in the last 48 hours. Her color has returned and so has her appetite. She was waiting for a cheeseburger while we talked.

Here's a brief rundown to keep ya'll in the loop (a southern reference for all ya'll southerners)

• MRI has been ordered for more information about Mom's "Mad Cow" (a Boston Legal Denny Crain reference -- one of Mom's favorite shows that unfortunately is no longer on the air). Mom's a bit nervous about having to lay flat for 30 minutes while they do their work. "I'll just sing," she says with a smile. They'll play music but it'll likely not be something she enjoys (she's rather particular with her musical taste). You can tell she's nervous. Who wouldn't be?!!

• She'll get some bloodwork in the next couple hours. Some of her levels were high, requiring the action.

• She loves being back at the hospital. She was able to speak with many of the techs and nurses that were here when she was back in June/July. They remember her and have welcomed her. She feels like she's back home. The activity is welcome, except at 4:00am when she's trying to sleep.
