Games. Mom loves games. In the last month, "I've played more penuchle (every time I type that word it's different) than I can remember, winning most the time," she says. We've joked about adding a score sheet to the right sidebar of the blog. I think I'll add that component if I can figure out how to do it. Until then, know that Mom has a commanding 17 to 10 lead over Dad. I've won about 6 hands and daughter Jen has probably won a handful. (I'm sure she'll comment to this post emphatically denying ever losing -- she's so competitive!)
Andrea (my wife) bought mom mexican dominos. I have no idea how to play, but Andi's excited to teach mom so they can begin playing a new game. Connect-4 is a good one, but Noah's best at that. We haven't played cribbage in a long time -- I'm sure it'll be on the docket soon. Scrabble is a popular game that grandma (Mom/Maryann) looks forward to playing with her grandaughters. I'm willing to bet there will be some very interesting words put on the board playing with 10 year olds! I can hear it now, "Sure Hujiklles is a word, Grandma!!!" one of the girls will say. The room will fill with laughter. Won't that be nice.
If you have a game you like to play, stop in and play it with mom. She's loves the conversation and learning new games. Dad will be happy, too. He'll get more time to work on his crossword puzzle and eat his secret stash of candy (Hot Tamales, Lemonheads and swedish fish are his favorites, but don't tell Mom he's sneaking.)
