The good news has come fast and furious so far today. Without further ado:
• Dr. Granger says liver, kidneys and lungs all appear to be functioning well. Doesn't see signs of any organ being compromised by the "bad guys."
• Liquid in her lung is not cancerous. That is huge. The doctors are working to get the fluid removed without dehydrating mom.
• Cumadin is thinning the blood and minimizing the bloot clot in her shoulder
• Mom's radiologist says he thinks the radiation is working after just one treatment. "The skin surface doesn't look as angry," Dr. Sevolt says.
Mom was singing on her way down to radiology. Effects of pain medicine just being given.
Still in pain and shortness of breath. Doctors are working on finding out why that is. Echocardiogram has been scheduled for later this afternoon. They'll be paying close attention to the diastolic portion of the heart, whatever that is. Systolic functioning normally but not the other half. Mom's concerned about the heart since there is precedence of heart issues in her family.
Dr. Granger talked about discharging mom once things have been arranged. She's no longer in the acute stage, requiring the hospital stay. Dad and Jen will be looking at 2 not-for-profit homes this afternoon. Mom says she'll miss all her new friends at the hospital but looks forward to meeting "all my new friends" soon.

The news is indeed good.
I hope the echocardiogram goes well and helps in identifying the diastolic disturbance.
As far as singing, and discounting the pain medicine, there is a proverb that goes something like: Those who wish to sing, always find a song.
Our thoughts and prayers continue with all of you and each of you. Hopefully we'll get a chance to talk to MaryAnn or Jim today.
Take time. Take care. Continue to share your time and love with each other.
