Monday radiology report

Mom just headed into her 1:12pm radiology appointment. She talked all about her full day yesterday as she waited. She spent over 2 hours working with her grandson Aaron on quilting projects, talking the entire time. She had many visitors yesterday and expects several sets of visitors today. I tease mom, "you need a personal assistant to manage your days now!". She laughs at that.

Dad is here at the hospital, too. He's sitting next to me talking with Joseph, a friend of theirs from Africa, who's scheduled to see mom later today. Dad has a gigantic, half-eaten piece of pepperoni pizza on his lap. Yes, it is loaded with crushed red pepper. "Their pizza is great," dad proclaims. He licks his fingers and begins telling me about Rachelle, Mom's therapy RT, who's returned from two weeks in the Florida sun. "She's the upper body person," Dad says between bites. "Amber is the OT and the lower body person."

Mom got to walk for a short time yesterday. She was winded afterward, but considering her dormancy, did well. She's in and out of pain, but she attributes yesterdays pain to the amount of work she did with Aaron. "Well worth it," Mom states emphatically.

Mom's room at the nursing home is now a full-fledged art gallery. She has 6 quilts hanging on the walls. Dad says she'll probably be staying at the facility for another 3 weeks. It all depends on Mom's ability to regain functionality and strength. She's beginning to take protein shakes and her appetite is strong.

Dad has settled into a routine, too. He was able to go to Rise and Dine, a favorite breakfast spot, to eat. Faith got her walk and had time to socialize with other dogs in the neighborhood.

Mom still doesn't have her phone. We'll remedy that this evening.
