Just Ty

Hello readers. Mom and I are watching So You Can Think You Can Dance. I just whipped her at penuchle (sp?). I was trailing after 3 hands but drove up the final bid to 39, "much higher than I wanted to go," Mom said as she waved her finger at me. She missed the bid by 2 measly points.

We talked about her day between points. Radiation is a highlight of her day because she gets to visit with all her friends. When they found out that Mom's last day is tomorrow, they said "No! We'll need to bring champagne. We're glad you're done, but we'll miss you!" Mom liked that. "I'm going to miss Gail, Beth and Andrea and really going to miss Luciana, Anne, Marta and Mela. They are my women!" she says.

Mom finally was introduced to the mystery doctor who would never, ever make eye contact while she waited for radiation. "I was finally introduced to him by Dr. Seavolt (underwater electricity). His name is Ty. He's not a doctor. He reminds me of Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. When asked, he says 'Just Ty.'" Mom say's she will miss 'Just Ty."

Mom wants to hear everyone's story. It helps her personalize care and helps to fill her spirit.

Mom just opened a card from 7 North, over at Riverside Methodist Hospital. "I got a card from them!" she says. The card turns out to be a simple response card. "Oh well," She says with a hint of disappointment.

From my perspective, here's what I see. The radiation is making Mom tired. She's concerned about the balance of the medications but has settled well into her new diet. She looks incredibly good compared to where she was 2 weeks ago. It's great to see her walking around, helping herself to water and moving objects around the room. BP is 101/66. 96% oxygen. No temperature, so that's good.

"We got the hospital bill," Dad says.

"Nope. Don't want to see that!" She cuts in.
