Working hard

Mom's been working hard in physical therapy this week, but she's fatigued. The radiology department at Riverside told her she'd feel tired from the radiation weeks after the conclusion of the treatment.

She's been told to pay attention to her body.

Frank, a member from choir, made a special trip to see Mom yesterday, bringing "the most beautiful printed version of Here I Am Lord (Mom's favorite hymn)" as a gift. "That was so sweet of him," Mom says.

Yesterday was very hard on mom, she says. Rochelle and Amber, physical therapists, and Stephanie, the day nurse, took time to talk with Mom about resting. When the body needs rest and when and how to pace. Mom goes on about all the positive caring people here and how they help her with her emotional nurturing.

She talks a lot about dreams and their meaning. Not always her dreams, either. Knowing mom like we do, she's been very interested in other people's dreams as well.

Ham, baked beans, apple pie (I ate it) and salad are the dinner tonight. Mom's eating a 2-day old Panera sandwich with potato chips. Dad's at home, probably supervising the renovation of Mom's new room.
