A bunch of green thumbs!

24 hands, priceless help.

Talk about your active days! Today has been a doozy so far. In a nutshell, me and the girls went over to Mom's house immediately after breakfast to meet a group of volunteers from Helping Hands in the Garden, then we dashed off to visit with Mom at the home, had lunch with the ol' wife (my wife, not Emma's, that would be weird) then did some serious grocery shopping.

Helping Hands in the Garden was created to assist women with breast cancer in caring for their landscaping while they battle to get better. What an awesome group of people! My sister and oldest daughter Julie (the opera singer with the talented dancing daughter, Emilie and very intelligent and cerebral son, Aaron) heard about Helping Hands and called them. (all together now, NICE JOB JULES!)

The dozen volunteers arrived at Mom's house at 8:00 a.m. and immediately began overhauling Mom and Dad's garden which was overrun with weeds. They were armed with shovels, gloves, overalls, gardening shears and an awesome big maroon truck that really made me jealous. Of course, if you have a truck like that, you'll be busy moving your friends every weekend! So, maybe my old clunker isn't so bad.

I popped a few photos and have uploaded them for ya'll to view. (I'm not from the south, but since we're talking big trucks and killer landscaping, I figured I'd go a little country!) Just click on the slide show on the top of the blog and you'll see the photos.

If you have some free time on your hands or some free dough in your wallet, give Elaine over at Helping Hands a call. You don't even have to know the difference between a weed and a flower -- she'll give you the quick ABCs and you'll be on your way!
